About 'Don't Be a Prisoner To Your Past'

Founded by William 'Billy' Coleman in 2025. Billy Coleman was born and raised in South Boston's D Street Projects. Billy has worked the last 4 years to find peace in his life after a long, hard battle with drugs, crime, and incarceration for almost 20 years of his life. Now sober, a working man, community activist, recovery coach, life coach, a father, a fiancé, a brother, an uncle . . . through trial and error found his path to self-forgiveness, accountability, and peace from within side. Proud Bostonian.

Don’t Be a Prisoner to Your Past’ is a support group of individuals who share similar past experiences with incarceration. The Group objectives are to share experiences, strength, and hope with each other so that we can continue our journeys to a brighter future; forgiving ourselves and letting go of our past. We acknowledge that substance use disorder, and behavioral addiction, is caused by multiple factors, including but not limited to trauma, mental health struggles, genetics, environmental factors, and social pressures. Addiction is a major contributor to crime, and we strongly encourage abstinence from drugs, alcohol, and criminal thinking.

Our journey together is to unite as previously incarcerated individuals with no judgment and work together so we may live productive lives. Our goal is to grow and heal together breaking through the bars that physically and mentally held us as prisoners to our past.
